Do You Need A Reason To Start Learning Procreate?

I was happily running my little Montessori school in my home and I always loved making classroom materials. I started thinking about making digital downloadable classroom materials other teachers could print and use. I had an iPad, I knew nothing about Procreate, just having dabbled in it a bit. I eventually found classes on it and that really helped me learn how much Procreate can do! Eventually, I started teaching Procreate as well! When the pandemic hit, I had to close my school and since I was having so much fun teaching Procreate, I decided to focus all of my energy on that. Since 2020, it’s been my full-time gig.

Teaching is what I know. I’m not a trained artist, in fact, my degree is in geology. I took a couple small group art classes in high school but I don’t use words like juxtaposition. I am a lifelong-learner and love teaching others what I’ve learned. I’ve lost track of how many people have thanked me for bringing art back into their lives. My goal has always been to help people learn to enjoy this amazing hobby as much as I do but it’s become so much more than that.

So for me, I did have a reason to use Procreate and I am so glad, it’s what needed to happen in order for all the rest of this to come to fruition. And I can bring it with me where ever I go! Below is a small collection of my 2024 favorites, a collage I make each year. All of these were drawn in Procreate and I think it is a great example of the variety of looks you can achieve! I hope it nudges you toward giving it a try! At some point, I hope you will also feel like picking up that Apple Pencil! -Jen
