Are You a Letterer? I’m Not!

Even though I have decent handwriting, I’ve never been happy with my attempted calligraphy or lettering in Procreate. I do have a TON of fun turning fonts into artsy lettering looks!

I have a whole class on using fonts to make all sorts of different looks but here’s some info to get you going on it! Below is a list of some interesting free fonts you can find on FontSpace. Be careful, you can spend hours finding cool fonts and never end up making anything with them because it will be bed time before you know it!😉

And here’s a lesson about finding free fonts, importing them, and also deleting them from Procreate. In the lesson I also explain how to know when you should rasterize your lettering!

Start simple. Using clipping masks to add colors and designs. Duplicate a layer and turn the lowest one gray, turn the blend mode to Multiply and maybe even blur it so you can have a shadow under all the letters. Give it a little nudge to offset it as well!

I give away loads of pattern brushes in my newsletter freebies which you can use on clipping masks above blocky letters too! Have fun experimenting!
