Stipples, Snow, and Stars! Make These Procreate Brushes!

Learning how to make stipple brushes opens up so many doors! When you understand the settings to adjust in Procreate’s Brush Studio, you will see that the possibilities are endless! They’re not just for “stipples” which you can easily do, but also for many other shapes and uses.

Stipple and textures. Procreate brushes
Can you spot the stipple and stipple-ish brushes in each of these illustrations? Even the donut sprinkles!

Here are a few more examples. I hope you can see how useful it will be to know how to make any stipple-like brush that you can imagine!

Let’s Look at a few brushes on their own.

Starting at the top is a brush that will work wonderfully for shading if you have the right color and size selected. It will fill in spaces with spots quite quickly because the spots are so densely placed. In the second brush it’s exactly the opposite! The third brush is a great starry night brush but it’s just as good at making snow (like the elf & chickadee illustration above). And how about that last brush, all spiky? That’s a glorious texture brush that’s made exactly the same way!

If you have seen any of my other posts about brush making, you are already familiar with Procreate’s Brush Studio. For these brushes, there are some specific settings you need to learn about so you know which ones to change when you want to make a variety of looks like the ones above.

While you CAN make actual stipple brushes, it’s way more fun to make all sorts of other things like stars and donut sprinkles! Lol! If you do need regular stipples, think about how you would use the brush or brushes. You can make them very scattered or quite lined up. Scattered is less predictable and not always ideal. It’s nice to have options!

Making multiple brushes is the best way to truly remember what the settings do. Experimenting is also such a good idea! Play! Play! Play! If it seems complicated at first, I promise that it gets easier!
